The new Audi A1 Sportback takes Audi's smallest hatchback, the fun A1, and adds rear passenger doors for increased practicality.
The recently redesigned Audi A1 Hatchback has won its place amongst the very best of the sporty small cars on the market, with a refreshed frontage that is sure to grab attention thanks to a widened hexagonal grille and stylishly narrowed headlights. The five-door Sportback model adds rear doors for the family-focused driver, whilst the option of contrasting roof and body paint colours mean that you won’t have to compromise style for practicality.
As with the standard S1 hatchback, the new Audi S1 Sportback is a car that looks deceptively calm and gentle from the outside. It's all an illusion however, as the S1 Sportback's gentle curves and wide frontage simply work incredibly well to mask the car's true nature on the road. The archly narrowed headlight design is the only real giveaway, unless of course you catch sight of the 17 or 18-inch alloy wheels that come with the two trim options.
Audi is continuously redefining the standards of a car's interior, especially when it comes to the driver's implements and controls. The new S1 Sportback continues that trend, with an intuitive control layout, satisfying dials and damped buttons that are satisfying to use as well as beautifully textured surfaces. As this is an S1 Sportback there's also an extra sporty, not to mention exclusive touch, in the form of the stainless steel pedals and a three-spoke leather Sports steering wheel. Supporting multiple functions and buttons, the steering wheel also comes with a high-gloss S1 badge and perforated leather trim for extra comfort
Like its two-door cousin, the new Audi S1 Sportback comes with just one choice of engine, regardless of which trim package you select. The engine in question however is a 2.0-litre, turbo fuel stratified injection (TFSI), petrol engine, and one that can offer you 227bhp on the road, so the singular choice turns out to be entirely right for the car. The S1 Sportback also boasts a permanent, all-wheel, quattro system that is guaranteed to give you the very best handling possible, whilst the 'S' specific Sports suspension and progressive steering add up to a flawless driving experience.
The Audi S1 Sportback is well-stocked in the technology department, and features a range of multimedia options. As standard, the S1 comes with Bluetooth connectivity and music streaming, DAB digital radio, SD card slots, a CD player and an Audi Music Interface (AMI) connection.
As well as entertainment technology, the S1 Sportback also carries a large amount of safety features such as seatbelt monitoring, secondary collision brake assist, ESC (electronic stability control) and a tyre pressure monitoring system.
