Audi's era-defining sports car returns as a Roadster, better looking and more versatile than ever before but just as much fun to drive.
The Audi TT has always been a good looking car, but the new Audi TT Roadster takes that jaw-dropping design and manages to take it even further. The extremely narrow headlights, rimmed by Audi's trademark LED running lights, contrast with an imposingly angular hexagonal grille that hints at the beast within. With the roof down, the TT Roadster's lines flow freely, sweeping from the bonnet to the rear with ease and demanding that all eyes follow them too.
Luxury and technology have gone hand in hand in new Audi ranges for a while now, and the new TT Roadster is no different. The displays and controls are kept to a minimum but are still well-arranged, thanks in part to the Audi Virtual Cockpit coming as standard. The Virtual Cockpit is a singular screen which replaces the instruments behind the steering wheel, allowing you to see all the information you could need at a glance.
There are touches of Audi class with the materials used too, as inlays come in either aluminium or matt brushed aluminium depending on the trim option and leather upholstery abounds.
The new Audi TT Roadster comes with a choice of three petrol engines, and whilst neither the entry level 1.8-litre TFSI nor the 2.0-litre turbo charged engine are exactly slow, it's the 2.0-litre TFSI with Audi's quattro four-wheel drive system that provides the best driving experience, giving 226bhp and plenty of control. There's also a 2.0-litre TDI Ultra diesel engine on offer which has the lowest CO2 emissions figures at 121g/km. Start/stop technology comes as standard to improve economy even further.
As a forward-facing, hi-tech roadster, the new Audi TT Roadster comes with the range of Audi and entertainment options you would expect. Technology such as DAB digital radio reception, Bluetooth connectivity and Audi Music Interface come across all trim options, whilst the top-of-the-range Black Edition trim includes the option to install a superb Bang & Olufsen sound system.
There are also plenty of safety features on board, including cruise control, Audi Lane Assist (with the 2.0-litre TFSI engine) and front airbags.
