BMW Connected acts as a digital personal assistant, synchronising travel information to one device, saving both time and stress on the road. ‘Time to leave’ alerts ensure that you always start your journey on-schedule, while real-time traffic updates offer reliable estimates for travel duration.
When you connect the app to your car, destinations are automatically transferred to BMW’s iDrive feature, synchronising the two devices for maximum convenience.
BMW Connected will also identify your regular routes, storing them as favourites within the app; not only are your in-car needs covered, but location services will ensure you are provided with up-to-the-minute details of how best to complete your journey once the car is parked.
In addition, BMW Connected will act as a single access point for all of your travel information, eliminating the need to switch between various devices to access the data you need. Calendar events, previous destinations, local parking spots and routes to fuel/charging stations will all be just click away, making it blissfully simple to plan excursions alongside a demanding schedule.
Furthermore, owners of BMW I and iPerformance models will be able access remote information regarding battery range and charge, so all trips can be planned with optimum efficiency. Remote assistance is a staple feature of BMW Connected; a vehicle’s interior ventilation and locks can be controlled entirely by the app, as well as specifying its current location.
Later this year, BMW will also allow users to access BMW Connected via Alexa for Amazon Echo. This means that vehicle controls enabled by BMW Connected can also be actioned via voice recognition; drivers can quite literally ‘tell’ their car to unlock, amongst other commands.
