The avant-garde new DS 5 flies in the face of traditional executive cars. Bold styling and impressive levels of space combine in this distinctive cross-country tourer.
The DS 5’s expansive hatchback body is unlike anything else in its class. Swept-back headlights flow from the bluff nose, with one-of-a-kind hockey sabre detailing extending along the bonnet, up to the A-pillar and gloss black door mirrors. The curving roofline ends in a bustle, with an integrated aerial. It celebrates its differences, never fading into the background.
It’s not just for show, either. Wide-opening doors and a subtly raised seating position making access extremely easy, while the three-part glass roof (with electric sun blinds) floods the interior with light. And the wide-opening boot has a generous 465-litre capacity.
The flamboyant exterior is echoed by the striking cabin, which boasts large and eminently supportive seats that allow the miles to drift by, while the large, deep wraparound windows ensure visibility is excellent for everyone.
Everything is beautifully built, and the comfort is maximised by standard dual-zone climate control and a touchscreen infotainment system that controls a DAB digital CD/radio and Bluetooth connectivity. Opt for a Prestige model to sink into beautifully soft leather upholstery on every journey.
The DS 5 is engineered to be relaxed and economical, with CO2 emissions starting from just 104g/km and fuel economy of up to 70mpg.
Five powertrains power the DS 5, with different engines matching each trim level. Elegance models come with a BlueHDi diesel boasting 118bhp, 148bhp or 178bhp; Prestige versions feature the two more powerful of these engines.
Performance Line versions are also powered by these two options, while introducing two turbocharged petrol engines: one with 163bhp or 208bhp.
Your DS 5 comes with all the home comforts you could crave, as standard. Satellite navigation, and rear parking sensors are included every time. Add front parking sensors and a reversing camera to guarantee no parking scrapes.
Safety equipment is generous. Hill Start Assist, six airbags, automatic lights and wipers, ABS with Electronic Brakeforce Distribution, and the new DS Connect Box Emergency & Assistance system are all standard. Prestige models also include a blind spot monitoring system
