Honda’s first zero-emission vehicle, the Clarity Fuel Cell, has arrived in Europe; evidence of Honda’s ground-breaking electric car technology, the brand has declared that two thirds of future international sales will be taken up by green vehicles in the next 15 years.
Landing first in London and Copenhagen, an initial six cars will partake in the Hydrogen for Innovative Vehicles (HyFIVE) demonstration, sponsored in part by the Fuel Cell and Hydrogen Joint Undertaking (FCHJU).
The Clarity Fuel Cell is enviably spacious for an electric vehicle, carrying five people in its cab with ease; due to Honda’s pioneering cell stack innovation, the entire build fits under the hood, allowing the rest of the car’s capacity to be maximised.
The drive range of the Honda Clarity Fuel Cell is also a flagship for the electric market, with 366 miles (589 km) available from a single charge. The success of this technology, alongside the HyFIVE roll-out, has lead Honda to confidently anticipate that the vehicle will soon welcome a full production run.
