Mercedes-Benz has built upon the popularity of its sporty, luxurious and beautiful CLS Coupé with the Shooting Brake, an estate car variant that offers even more versatility.
The CLS coupé on which this model is based is a stunning looking vehicle, and the good news is that the Shooting Brake is no exception, despite its elongated rear.
The Shooting Brake still has the low-slung body, the central grille studded with metallic pinpoints, and simply gorgeous lines, drawing the eye across the finely sculpted bodywork. The Shooting Brake also arrives on 19-inch alloy wheels and comes with 590 litres of boot space, which can be increased to 1,550 litres by folding the seats.
Unsurprisingly from a manufacturer well-known for the reliability of its cars, the interior of the new Mercedes-Benz CLS Shooting Brake is an elegant and well-appointed affair in every regard. There is a plentiful use of leather, especially on the well-proportioned low seating, whilst the other surfaces make good use of high-quality plastics and expert craftsmanship to shape the cab's ambience. For an extra touch of class and opulence you can even select the optional wooden floor for the boot space, a feature which really sets the new Mercedes-Benz CLS Shooting Brake apart from the crowd.
The new Mercedes-Benz CLS Shooting Brake may come with a smaller number of engines to choose from, but it's still a selection that is guaranteed to thrill any motorist. To start with, there are two diesel engines on offer, a four-cylinder model with 220bhp and a more powerful V6 backed up by 350bhp. The option of a petrol engine can be found higher up the range, with the AMG trim option packing a twin-turbo charged, 5.5-litre V8.
The new Mercedes-Benz CLS Shooting Brake comes with a vast array of safety technology as standard. This includes Collision Prevention Assist, Enhanced Brake Assist and Active Lane Keeping Assist programmes, and each will help drivers avoid accidents by providing audible warnings or gentle interventions such as braking when necessary.
The CLS Shooting Brake comes with all the multimedia options you would expect from a modern luxury car, but you can also choose to install surround systems from either Hartman Kardon or Bang & Olufsen.
