Defending a strong history of wins at the What Car? Awards, SKODA walked away with an enviable clutch of accolades at the 2017 ceremony, including three overall category triumphs and three price-point sweeps.
With the SKODA Kodiaq, Fabia, Superb and Citigo all receiving praise, the Czech brand was highly acclaimed across its core model lines – an honour which they are becoming accustomed to.
The SKODA Kodiaq walked away with the Best Large SUV title, ahead of its official release; showing off seven seats, four wheel drive and a feisty 148bhp diesel engine, SKODA’s new SUV was an obvious choice for the award, especially with its double-take low price.
The Fabia Hatch was also awash with commendation, winning the Best Small Car category. Still reeling after being named overall Car of the Year in 2015, the Fabia refuses to lose steam; versatile enough to tackle city traffic while also breezing the motorway at speed, the tenacious supermini was also given kudos for its ‘Simply Clever’ interior features, such as a waste basket, bottle holder, side-pockets and phone slot. The little things really do matter.
Meanwhile, the Superb Estate was awarded Best Estate for the second consecutive year, with its performance, space, comfort and affordability ensuring that it was unsurpassed.
In the price-point categories, SKODA remained a consistent presence; the Citigo was named Best City Car priced £8,000 to £10,000, while the Fabia Estate was crowned the winner of Best Estate priced under £18,000. Rounding off the evening, the Superb also came up trumps in the Best Executive Car under £25,000 category.
