You need to receive one of the following allowances to be eligible to join the Motability Scheme:
There must be at least 12 months remaining on the allowance and only the higher or enhanced rate of mobility allowance is used. Note you cannot use the Attendance Allowance to lease a car on the Motability Scheme.
Two named drivers (including yourself) can be nominated on the lease and a third driver can be added at an extra cost. This means your friends, family and carers can drive the disability car as well.
Nominated drivers should live within five miles of your house and only one driver is allowed to be under the age of 21. Any proposed drivers with convictions or disqualifications within the last five years will not be allowed.
