Since its introduction in September 2022, Nissan's innovative e-POWER vehicles have seen over 100,000 deliveries worldwide. In Europe alone, 65,367 Qashqais and 34,663 X-Trails with this cutting-edge powertrain have been sold to date.
The UK has embraced e-POWER, with over one in five of sales occurring here! A total of 21,026 e-POWER models, comprising 18,591 Qashqai's and 2,435 X-Trail's, have found happy owners across the country.
What distinguishes e-POWER is its unique drivetrain, powered solely by an electric motor, delivering a smooth, quiet, and effortless driving experience akin to full electric vehicles. Customer feedback underscores their appreciation for the serene and easy driving dynamics of this powertrain.
The heart of the e-POWER system lies in its advanced and efficient petrol engine, dedicated solely to generating electricity to charge the onboard battery and drive the wheels through the electric motor.
When the demand for power is low and the battery is sufficiently charged, the electric motor exclusively draws power from the battery to propel the vehicle. However, when more power is needed, the engine kicks in to generate electricity, both powering the electric motor and replenishing the battery.
In situations requiring maximum power output, the electric motor draws electricity from both the engine and the battery. Furthermore, energy generated during vehicle motion is efficiently captured and redirected back to the battery through power regeneration.
The system intelligently adjusts electricity generation based on road conditions. For instance, when road noise escalates due to surface conditions and vehicle speed, the engine activates to recharge the e-POWER battery pack, reducing the need for engine operation during quieter moments.

He added: “From the first unveiling to an incredible 100,000 e-POWER vehicles on the road, our journey continues with Nissan’s e-POWER – the gateway technology to an EV drive.”
Nissan’s unique technology is moving beyond Europe, hitting the road in Australia and New Zealand in both vehicles, and in Qashqai in Morocco.
To mark this significant achievement and showcase the inner workings of e-POWER, Nissan is using cutting-edge projection technology to display the dynamic energy flow directly onto the exterior of Nissan Qashqai and X-Trail models.
Utilizing detailed 3D models of the e-POWER engine and drivetrain, this innovative showcase transforms each vehicle into a canvas for technological marvels. Through anamorphic projections, audiences gain a rare insight into the intricate mechanisms of e-POWER and how its distinctive setup ensures a responsive, seamless, and noise-free driving experience, with the electric motor exclusively powering the wheels.
