Vauxhall Insignia at Marshall Vauxhall

Handsome and sleek, this popular fleet and family car has benefited from significant design and engineering updates since the previous model.

Cutting-edge design takes the Vauxhall Insignia to a whole new level in this range of cars. High-gloss chrome fittings and a low front grille and brand bar give it a brooding, masculine air. Distinctive alloy wheels start at 16-inches for a smooth-as-silk ride, or you can upgrade to impressive 20-inch models.

It’s on the inside that the Insignia comes into its own. Technological and design advances make for a luxurious travelling experience. Drivers of taste will love the bespoke fascia trims and choice of rich fabrics. Long-distance drivers will appreciate the ample legroom and good upper body support, with electric four-way adjustable seating. If you need lots of storage, the hatchback version in particular offers plenty – a boot that holds 530 litres without needing to fold down the back seats.

All models come with Bluetooth and USB connectivity, but by upgrading to IntelliLink you’ll have access to all your smartphone’s digital media via a high-definition screen, and you’ll be able to make and receive hands-free calls.

Engines and performance

Vauxhall’s Whisper Diesel family of engines are fuel efficient and give outstanding performance. The 1.6CDTI starts from 99g/km of CO2 emissions, and gives 74.3mpg, while still delivering 134.1bhp. EcoFLEX models offer power up to 167.6bhp with CO2 emissions at 99g/km, for savings on fuel and company car tax. If you prefer a petrol engine, the 1.4i-litre Turbo engine gives up to 138bhp, and 53.3mpg.

Safety and security

The Insignia is one of the safest cars on the road and was awarded the top Euro NCAP five-star rating for driver and pedestrian safety. All models come with LED daytime running lights and six carefully positioned airbags that deploy automatically in an emergency.

The electronic stability programme is also a standard feature that keeps your vehicle safe when navigating slippery roads and extreme conditions. For enhanced visibility, you could opt for Adaptive Forward Lighting Plus. This uses a front camera, rain sensor and steering-angle information to automatically optimise your lights to different speeds, manoeuvres and weather.

An optional advanced safety feature for all Insignia models is the intelligent front-camera system that warns you of speed limits, and if you’re drifting out of your lane. You’ll even be alerted to a possible collision if you get too close to a slower moving vehicle in front.

Adaptive Cruise Control is an advanced feature that automatically regulates the accelerator and brakes in moving traffic, and includes collision-imminent braking.

If you choose the popular Vauxhall OnStar you’ll get in-car access to emergency help and advice round the clock, 365 days a year, as well as many other services.
