Introducing the MEB platform

The MEB platform has been specifically designed with electric vehicles in mind. Built to offer more space, performance, and comfort, the MEB platform forms the bedrock on which the CUPRA Born is built.

Modular electric kit

The MEB platform is designed specifically for electric cars.

Battery position

The MEB platform allows us to put the battery in the centre of the vehicle to help maximise interior space.

Low centre of gravity

The battery’s position gives the CUPRA Born a low centre of gravity for more dynamic performance.

Driving performance

The higher seating position offers greater visibility while the wider wheelbase and low centre of gravity gives you a more dynamic driving performance.

Increased space

No combustion engine means the dashboard is pushed further forwards to create more room in both the front and rear of the car.

A large battery

The large battery sits entirely within the floor. That allows the wheels to be positioned right to the four corners of the vehicle, improving the drive experience.

Clever and easy charging

Charging technology is constantly evolving and there is now a range of fast and efficient ways to recharge your battery.

At home

It can take as little as 3 hours and 33 minutes to charge a CUPRA e-Hybrid at home using a wallbox, or up to 5 hours and 48 minutes using a conventional plug.

When you choose to install a charger in your home, we recommend going through an accredited installer like Pod Point. They will guide you through the whole process from pre-installation to a full demonstration once the work has been completed.

Pod Point also includes a three-year warranty on their charging points as well as Wi-Fi connectivity for real-time updates.

Away from home

Charging while you’re out and about can be simple and cost-effective. The public charging infrastructure is growing all the time, and there are now more charging stations than petrol stations in the UK with chargers now often found in public car parks and motorway service stations.

Plus, apps like Zap Map give you locations for more than 15,000 charging bays nationwide. Meanwhile other apps, like A Better Routeplanner, automatically create routes that take you past charging points based on your planned trip.

Maximise the electric range

Make the most of it. Knowing what affects your CUPRA’s electric range will help you take full advantage of it.

Environmental conditions

Your range can vary in very hot or cold weather. In temperatures below -5°C or above 35°C electric cars work harder and lose power quicker.

Air conditioning and heating

Cooling and heating your car uses the battery’s power. It’s good to pre-acclimatise your electric CUPRA before you set off on your journey.

Range Driving Profile

Pushing your electric CUPRA to its limit uses more power. The range driving profile adjusts motor power and climate control to maximise range.

Benefits

Total power, zero emissions, and smart charging solutions. Now is the time to switch to electric.

Free parking

Electric car drivers enjoy free or discounted parking when they need to charge their vehicles.

No more restricted zones

With CO₂ emissions of just 30g/km** on our e-HYBRID range and the CUPRA Born emission free, our electric and hybrid range is exempt from many congestion charges.

Free public chargers

The network of free public charging stations is growing rapidly all the time. Combine this with a CUPRA home charger and you’ll be able to charge for less on the road or at home.

Lower running costs

Up to 217.3 mpg**, reduced Vehicle Excise Duty, also known as the road tax, and 10%*** Benefit-in-Kind, both the CUPRA e-Hybrid range and the CUPRA Born, which runs on zero emissions, drastically reduce running costs.

Looking to make the switch to electric?

If you're thinking about switching to a CUPRA electric vehicle, consider using the EV&me by CUPRA app to see if going electric is right for you.
