Soon to be revealed at the Geneva Motor Show, Volvo are excited to announce some of the ground-breaking new safety features in their pioneering XC60 SUV.
Equipped with automatic steering assistance for urgent situations, the XC60 is tipped to be one of the safest cars on the road, with unparalleled levels of initiative.
Volvo’s flagship City Safety system has been upgraded for the XC60, allowing for steering to be engaged when automatic braking alone will not deflect a collision; for example, if the vehicle needed to both stop and turn to avoid a pedestrian in its path.
Utilized in Volvo’s Oncoming Lane Mitigation feature, automatic steering will avoid collisions whereby a driver has mistakenly drifted out of their lane, by both alerting the person behind the wheel and guiding the vehicle back onto its correct course. A Blind Spot Information System also offers a similar feature, whereby the car is steered back into its own lane and away from undetected blind spot hazards.
