The very first unit of the new Volvo XC60 mid-sized SUV has been produced in the brand’s bustling Torslanda plant, based in their native Sweden.
A T5 AWD Inscription in Crystal White broke the ice, ready to hit the road with its new owner in the coming weeks. The latest incarnation of the XC60 has a solid act to follow; the original model grew to be the best-selling premium mid-sized SUV in Europe, boasting nearly a million registrations around the world and making up to 30% of Volvo’s total sales.
The new XC60 has already been crowned one of the safest cars in history, with a host of ground-breaking technology to secure the title. Steer Assist has been added to the impeccable line-up of features, working with Oncoming Lane Mitigation to help avoid head-on collisions. In addition, Volvo’s Blind Spot Information System (BLIS) also uses Steer Assist to help make lane-changing accidents a fear of the past.
In addition to safety innovations, the new Volvo XC60 is equipped with a tenacious range of engines, including the range-topping T8 Twin petrol plug-in hybrid. 407 hp of raw power is produced alongside an acceleration of 0-100 km/h in a mere 5.3 seconds, all while being blissfully efficient with the help of a gutsy electric motor.
