economical 1.4-litre Blue Drive diesel, to the sporty 1.6-litre turbocharged
engine – both available with either three or five doors, the new i30 from
Hyundai offers you a world of choice. The only difficulty will be deciding
which specification to choose.
The fluid lines of the roof profile are echoed in the shaping of the windows and even in the styling of the lights. The detail in the front LED daytime running lights, and on the Premium trim in the tail lights, gives a sparkling jewel effect, as well as enhancing visibility for you. A sporty rear spoiler with integral brake light completes the look.
Inside the i30 there is more space than you might expect, with a 528-litre load capacity with the seats in position and 1,642 litres with the seats folded down. The entry level S trim comes with plenty of features as standard including Bluetooth and AUX connections, steering wheel-mounted controls, and air conditioning. The Premium edition tops the range, and gives you a wealth of extra features, such as dual-zone climate control, heated front seats and a heated steering wheel. SE, SE Nav and Premium trims are fitted with a choice of steering modes – select Comfort for easier manoeuvrability or Sport for a more enjoyable drive on the open road.
A powerful 1.6-litre CRDi diesel engine is available on Premium models, and you can choose whether to have a manual gearbox or the new seven-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission. The manual Blue Drive 1.6-litre CRDi gives you as much as 78.4mpg, with CO₂ emissions at just 94g/km, meaning you won’t need to pay road tax. Intelligent Stop & Go is available on many models, helping to reduce fuel consumption by switching off the engine when you are stationery – at traffic lights for example, and automatically switching on again when you press the clutch.
The i30 is fitted with a range of features to keep you safe, including ABS and brake assist technology, which triggers full braking when it detects an emergency stop. Front, side and curtain airbags make sure you and your passengers are protected, and on Premium models you will also get a driver’s knee airbag. The new i30 has been awarded a five star rating in the Euro NCAP safety scheme.
The i30 was named best compact family car by Auto Express.
