Fuel Cell

All-New NEXO’s fuel cell system combines oxygen and hydrogen to create a flow of electrons that powers the electric drive motor and charges the 1.56kWh high voltage battery. Along with its five-minute fill-up time and impressive range of 414 miles (WLTP), All-New NEXO offers a viable alternative to the combustion engine for everyday commuting and long drives alike.

Since launching the world’s first mass-produced fuel cell in 2013, we've overhauled its constituent parts to make the system smaller, lighter and stronger. As a result, our second generation fuel cell has the world’s highest system efficiency, consuming as little as 1kg of hydrogen per 100km.

Truly unique, the gently arching LED positioning light stretches across the entire front, flowing elegantly into the LED daytime running lights on both sides. Located above the LED headlights, they make All-New NEXO unmistakable on the road. Hyundai’s signature Cascading Grille has been reimagined to harmonise seamlessly with All-New NEXO’s light form and twin headlight design.​ The wheel air curtains reduce drag by directing air over and around the front wheels via the stylish ducts within the front bumper. Developed for better aerodynamic efficiency, All-New NEXO’s retractable door handles retract automatically when travelling at speeds of more than 2 mph.​ The stylish 19” alloy wheels, created exclusively for All-New NEXO, have been optimised to allow as much air as possible to pass smoothly over the wheel’s surface while still allowing enough air flow to reach the brakes for cooling.​ From the side, the long rear spoiler with its integrated rear wiper is a visual continuation of the floating roof design. Together with a specially designed air duct in the D-pillar, it helps to improve air flow.​ The LED rear combination lights feature a gleaming inner lens finish for a more premium look. They artfully combine the brake lights, tail lights and turn signal indicators for great visibility and style.

All-New NEXO’s effortless combination of technology and environmentally friendly design continues inside its spacious, well-appointed interior. Bio fibres, plastics and paint are incorporated alongside two crystal clear LCD displays, for navigation, entertainment and driving information. The digital information cluster presents important driving information with outstanding visibility. Alongside range and trip information, a power gauge lets you see how your driving style is influencing fuel consumption. The status of Advanced Driver Assistance Systems is displayed here as well as the Blind-Spot View Monitor which shows drivers both rear and side views when indicating to change lanes.​ Stay in control and connected. The sporty two-tone steering wheel features ergonomically positioned buttons so you can stay in control and operate car systems while driving safely. Paddle shifters mounted on the steering wheel adjust the level of regenerative braking; allowing drivers to customise the rate at which the battery is recharged when decelerating.​ Everything you need, right at your fingertips – switch between drive, neutral, reverse and park by simply using the buttons conveniently located within the centre console. Every surface in All-New NEXO, from the bamboo-based headliner, plastics, trim, soft skin and floor mats are UL certified bio-materials. This represents the most extensive use of such materials on any vehicle. Thanks to All-New NEXO’s electric motor, the traditional gear shifter is replaced by shift-by-wire buttons, creating extra space for storing personal items and mobile device charging.​ Delivering best-in-class space, All-New NEXO offers SUV versatility. With a boot capacity of 461 litres (VDA), it has plenty of room for passengers and their luggage. The convenient 60/40 split-folding rear seats give you more flexibility and cargo space when you need it. The hydrogen fuel tanks have been specially designed to enable a full fold-flat floor. And with the seats folded flat, you have a generous 1,466 litres of space.

Refuelling - The movement is growing​

Hydrogen is all around us. Not just in the water we drink, but also at a rapidly increasing number of petrol stations – often right beside traditional fuel pumps. Refuelling is easy. Just connect the hydrogen 700 bar nozzle to the car and press shut. Refuelling will be completed in approximately 5 minutes when the hydrogen tanks are full. You’ll be ready to take on up to 414 miles of open road.

Convenience - Exquisite comfort and seamless connectivity

Safety - Hyundai SmartSense

Enjoy greater confidence on the road with Hyundai SmartSense, our cutting-edge Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS). All-New NEXO is leading the way forward with the highest level of ADAS of any mass brand, with safety innovations including a self-parking system and lane-following features. All-New NEXO has also been awarded a 5* Euro NCAP rating. Hydrogen is stored in three tanks for extra security in the event of a collision, and a high strength tank protection structure is designed to absorb high energy impacts without transferring impact loads through to the hydrogen tank.

All-New NEXO features Lane Keep Assist (LKAS).- When activated, it keeps All-New NEXO centred in its lane at speeds between 0 and 90 mph (where legally permissible). The system senses the car’s position in the lane and warns the driver audibly and visually so you can correct your position. If the driver doesn’t react, the system then induces corrective steering to guide the vehicle back to a safe position.

Blind Spot Detection (BSD) - Using two radar sensors in the lower rear bumper, the system visually warns you of traffic in the blind spot area. If the turn signal indicator is activated, the Lane Change Assist will sound an audible as well as a visual alert.

Autonomous Emergency Braking (AEB) - Sensing the road ahead with a radar and a camera, the AEB system automatically brakes when it detects sudden braking by the car ahead or pedestrians in the road. It initially warns the driver visually and audibly, then it controls the braking according to the collision danger stage and applies maximum braking force to avoid a collision. The system is activated when a vehicle, pedestrian or cyclist is sensed in front of the car, moving at speeds of 6 mph or above.

Blind Spot View Monitor - An industry-first, our Blind Spot View Monitor shows the driver side views on the supervision instrument cluster when indicating to change lanes. It also enhances visibility in dark and rainy conditions. We’re the first car manufacturer to provide the driver with video footage from both sides of the vehicle in the instrument cluster.

Remote Smart Park Assist (RSPA) - Parking just got much easier. RSPA enables All-New NEXO to autonomously park or move out from a parking space, with or without a driver in the car. Designed especially for narrow parking spaces and garages.
