The new SLC Cabriolet is the latest version of the German manufacturer's small convertible, offering pace and comfort alongside the well-known Mercedes-Benz quality.
The new SLC Cabriolet looks every inch the compact sports car, a pocket rocket of a car that shines with quality that becomes understandable once you see the instantly recognisable three-pointed star badge sat in the centre of the gorgeous, metal-studded grille. The SLC Cabriolet may be small, but its looks pack a punch, thanks to a bonnet that is raised slightly over the headlights that are also the point of origin for some deeply stylish lines that flow over the length of the car.
The interior of the new Mercedes-Benz SLC Cabriolet has been designed with the driver first and foremost in mind. The SLC is supposed to be a joy to drive after all, not a limousine to be driven in. That's why the SLC Cabriolet comes with highly-adjustable sports seats and pedals that have been aligned to create the most comfortable driving position. The view of the road has also been taken into account, with visibility increased thanks to narrow A-pillars in the cabin.
If you choose the AMG line trim however, you will get access to a Garmin satnav system as well as sports steering wheel and leather-topped dashboard for extra control and luxury
Despite being a sports car at heart, the new Mercedes-Benz SLC Cabriolet is also an affordable and economical vehicle. The entry-level petrol engine, the SLC 200, will give you 43.5mpg with only 150g/km of CO2 when fitted with a six-speed manual gearbox. Those figures are even more impressive with the nine-speed automatic installed, yielding 47.9mpg and 137g/km of emissions. If you want a version of the SLC that is even more economical, then the 2.1-litre diesel SLC 250d will give you 70.6mpg and an emissions figure of just 114g/km.
The new Mercedes-Benz SLC Cabriolet is equipped with a large array of safety features as standard, cementing Mercedes-Benz's reputation of creating safe, reliable cars. With the SLC, you will receive active braking, blind spot monitoring and lane keep assist as standard amongst other systems. There's also a full complement of airbags, and whilst the SLC is yet to be crash-tested by Euro NCAP the rest of the Mercedes-Benz range has received a five-star rating.
