What is Diesel Exhaust Fluid (DEF)?

Diesel Exhaust Fluid (DEF) also known as AdBlue™, is a non-toxic, colourless, odourless and non-flammable fluid. Stored in a dedicated tank in your car, it is injected into the exhaust system to clean exhaust gases. The consumption of DEF can vary greatly. An average consumption rate can be 500 miles (800km) / 1 Litre, but this consumption rate can be more than doubled, depending on the driving style, road and weather conditions

How will I know if my DEF levels are low?

• The message centre displays a series of messages when the DEF level becomes low.
• The first message states that the DEF level is at a level where a top up is advised
• The second message is accompanied by an AMBER warning icon and states to refill the DEF tank
• The third message starts a countdown of the distance remaining until the DEF tank is empty, after which the vehicle will fail to start
• The final message is accompanied by a RED warning icon and is displayed when the distance remaining is zero and states that no further restarts will be possible until DEF is added to the tank

A Jaguar Winter Safety Check includes a thorough visual health check on your brakes, tyres, steering, and suspension and more. We also include complimentary Brake Fluid, Fluid and Washer top-ups, and Air-Con Check ensuring your vehicle is ready for the season ahead. Your Service Advisor will talk you through a report of the results. If your Jaguar requires attention, we will endeavour to complete any highlighted eVHC work authorised.

The report uses an easy-to understand traffic light system. GREEN means no service or maintenance is required, AMBER means work is advisory or may need attention in the future, and RED highlights work that requires immediate attention
