Tis the season to be tiny… and practical, versatile and exciting, according to Land Rover!
The brand’s expert engineers have had an extra-special task this Christmas, creating a log cabin so small that it can comfortably fit in the back of a Land Rover Discovery Sport SUV. When raised in the great outdoors, the cabin will happily sleep two adults, as well as keeping them snug and warm while temperature outside plummets to a chilly -20°C.
Being sure not to waste any of the Discovery Sport’s 1698-litre load space, every inch was optimised to carry the cabin’s components; in addition, the cabin was truly exposed to the elements via Land Rover’s own cold-climate chamber, which subjects all of the brand’s vehicles to sub-freezing temperatures in order to ensure they are truly up to the challenge.
In an additional trial to keep the standard high, the cabin was also tested by 12-times Everest mountain climber Kenton Cool; a true expert in off-grid experiences.
The cabin’s creators used a virtual model in order to ensure that every millimetre of the build was practical, while Danish architects LOMO used only sustainable materials to bring the cabin to life. To make sure that the cabin would provide a suitably festive getaway location, a solar charger was placed on the roof, with a kettle which could be connected to the Discovery Sport’s 12V power socket; so, no need to miss out on your home comforts.
Land Rover intend to put the cabin to excellent use over the next few years, through a series of partnerships a tour across all of its Experience centres. So, there will be plenty of opportunities to experience a ‘little luxury’, courtesy of the Land Rover Discovery Sport.
