Further details of the glorious Range Rover Velar have been released, adding more sustenance to what is hoped to be a pivotal model for the brand.
Placed firmly between the prestigious Range Rover Evoque and Range Rover Sport, the all-new mid-size luxury SUV is to be equipped with the finest technology and design elements, despite having a firm grip on ‘reductionism’ and producing a clean, spacious aesthetic.
Slimline Matrix Laser-LED headlights and flush deployable door handles give the Velar a distinct identity of its own, alongside flagship innovations such as a Touch Pro Duo infotainment system, including a pair of high-definition 10-inch touchscreens.
The body of the Range Rover Velar is a light, stiff aluminium, allowing for a controlled, enjoyable drive. Air suspension is available as standard on six-cylinder models, with Adaptive Dynamics damping technology as standard across the range; teamed with Intelligent Driveline Dynamics and all-wheel drive, the Velar is a smooth, comfortable ride across a wide range of surfaces. The optional Terrain Response 2 also offers extra traction for challenging ground.
Covering a vast 2,874mm wheelbase, the Range Rover Velar boasts a 632-litre luggage compartment and towing capacity of up to 2,500kg, allowing for ultimate versatility. Not to be outdone in regard to power and efficiency, the Velar also shows off an entry-level 180PS 2.0-litre Ingenium diesel engine with C02 emissions of a frugal 142g/km, right up to the range-topping 380PS supercharged 3.0-litre V6 petrol engine.
Also bringing driver assistance to the fore, the Range Rover Velar includes pioneering safety systems including Autonomous Emergency Braking with pedestrian detection, Reverse Traffic Detection and Driver Condition Monitoring, to provide a sixth sense to everyday experiences on the road.
