The Mercedes-Benz GLS is the German manufacturer's biggest SUV, capable of seating seven and handling any terrain or conditions imaginable.
The Mercedes-Benz GLS has been designed to be a reliable, dependable and near-indestructible SUV, hence the solid lines and chiselled bodywork. It is a lot smoother than models from other manufacturers, as Mercedes-Benz demonstrates that a big car can still be pleasing to the eye. Since its last iteration there have been a number of changes, most notably the new grille with its twin-blade styling and accentuated badge. Mercedes-Benz has also added a new front and rear bumper along with 18-inch alloy wheels
Despite its huge size and rugged styling, the interior of the new Mercedes-Benz GLS is a comfortable and spacious place to be for all seven of its potential occupants. Controlling the vehicle's various functions is made easy for the driver, thanks to the easily accessible seven-inch infotainment screen. This being a Mercedes-Benz the fixtures and upholstery are all decked out in high quality materials, including Nappa leather for the seats and a choice of Anthracite poplar wood trim styles for various surfaces.
As with almost all Mercedes-Benz models, the GLS comes with a range of engine options that are designed to match any individual's needs. The most broadly appealing engine is likely to be the 3.0-litre turbo charged V6 producing 255bhp, whilst the very top of the range is occupied by AMG's 5.5-litre, twin-turbo charged, V8 which comes backed with 577bhp.
Regardless of which engine you choose, there is the option of upgrading to Mercedes-Benz's Dynamic Select system. Dynamic Select gives drivers access to six different driving programmes and set-ups, including Individual, Sport, Comfort, Slippery, Off-road and Off-Road Plus.
Mercedes has a proud history of producing extremely safe and reliable vehicles, and the GLS is no exception. The GLS comes equipped with a large array of safety technology, including; Lane keeping assist, parking pilot, active brake assist, rear impact warning and protection system and blind spot assist, amongst others. It has also been awarded a five-star crash safety rating from Euro NCAP.
The GLS has also been designed to keep all six passengers and the driver entertained, and to that end there is a Harman Kardon Logic 7 surround-sound system included as standard. This can be upgraded to a Bang and Olufsen set-up instead, and there is even the option to add an entertainment system for the rear seats.
