Mercedes-Benz has released a saloon version of its E-Class model, and it's as plush, elegant and reliable as you would hope.
The new Mercedes-Benz E-Class Saloon may appear to be statelier than some of the edgier models in the E-Class range, with a more executive bearing and softer lines that suit it, giving the E-Class Saloon an innate sense of quality. The E-Class Saloon still boasts the same well-sculpted lines that characterise the E-Class range, sweeping back from a bonnet that appears to be lower and extended. This gives the car an even more grand appearance as it stands on its 17 or 18-inch alloy wheels.
The new Mercedes-Benz E-Class Saloon is both an executive car and a family vehicle, so it's not surprising that it places comfort and style at the heart of its interior design scheme. The well-padded and supportive seats, which can be adjusted for the perfect driving position, come with leather upholstery as standard for extra elegance and grip, whilst a metallic finish can be found on surfaces and instruments throughout. Meanwhile, the instrument display screen can be upgraded to a higher resolution dual-screen option, providing separate screens for the satellite navigation and infotainment system.
As part of its range of available engines, the new Mercedes-Benz E-Class Saloon boasts a retooled 2.0-litre engine in the form of the E220d. The E220d distributes its power smoothly across the revs, and comes backed by 191bhp to reach a top speed of 149mph. There's also the option of a hybrid engine, the E350e, which has an impressive maximum power output of 282bhp and will reach 60mph from a standing start in around six seconds.
The new Mercedes-Benz E-Class Saloon comes equipped with a vast range of safety features as standard that can be selected for no extra cost. These include a blind spot assist feature which provides a warning via the relevant wing mirror, as well as Drive Pilot and Active Brake Assist, which help to slow the car to avoid a potential collision. Active Lane Keeping Assist warns you if you start to drift out of position on a motorway.
The E-Class Saloon has received a five-star crash safety rating from Euro NCAP, placing it amongst the ranks of the safest cars on the road today.
