Revealed at the Smart City Expo World Congress in Barcelona, the SEAT Leon Cristobal concept is geared to slot in to the city council’s Urban Mobility Plan; not just as a mere puzzle piece, but as the safest car in the Spanish brand’s history.
The SEAT Leon Cristobal identifies the main catalysts of car accidents, and thus attempts to combat them with six unique safety assistants:
Drive-lock: a built-in breathalyser which prevents the car from driving, in the event of a positive reading.
Drive-coach: a voice assistant that allows safety warnings to be customised.
Guardian angel mode: enables all 15 of the active and passive safety systems in the vehicle to be initiated.
Display-mirror: rear-view mirror which utilises a rear camera, removing blind spots.
Black box: records driving data and images, as well as sending them to a designated Smartphone in the event of an accident.
Mentor: an app allowing parents to oversee the vehicle’s speed and location when their offspring are driving.
SEAT predict that Cristobal could prevent 40% of road accidents, if more than half of the vehicles on our streets were armed with its technology. We’re looking forward to seeing the concept become a reality!
