Mini Kitchen: Cook up a treat
Whether you want to knock together some breakfast or cook a simple meal for dinner, the Beach Camper model features a mini-kitchen that allows you to easily put together something tasty. Fold it out and you’ll find a worktop with a single-ring gas hob.
Space for living and sleeping: Make yourself at home
The California 6.1 Beach gives you the freedom to make anywhere home. The raised bed area has been made extra-large, and comes with a folding extension. Plus, the bench seating and mini-kitchen make a perfect place to cook a meal and relax after a day of exploring.

Driving performance: Spacious and agile
For all its space, the California 6.1 Beach doesn’t feel like driving a motorhome. It handles like a passenger car and gives you a raised seating position for a commanding view of the road. Thanks to its smartly designed dimensions, it will even fit in most car parks. It’s design also means narrow alleys, winding roads and cobbled streets are easy to navigate.

The California 6.1 Beach boasts a powerful TDI engine beneath the hood and an adaptive 7-speed dual clutch gearbox (DSG).
This gives you a completely automatic drive with seamless gear changes, the gearbox will even adapt to your driving style for total comfort on the road.
The California 6.1 Beach’s modern design features handsome chrome features which not only look great but pay homage to its famous ancestor, the T1 Camper Van.
Total vision
The wing mirrors give you a full view of what’s behind you on the road. They are electronically adjustable and can be adapted to give you a tighter or wider view depending on what you need. In colder weather they can be heated to prevent steaming and the optional folding function gives you peace of mind when you’re parked.
Powerfully bright
The optional LED headlights illuminate the road to give you a clear view of what’s ahead. Powerful long light beams ensure you get clear visibility even on dark winter nights.

Add the bike carrier accessory and you can take your bicycles along on your travels. You can opt for a roof carrier with room for two bikes, or a tailgate carrier with space for four.

Al fresco, in any weather
The California Beach 6.1’s awning, which comes as standard on the Camper trim but optional on the Tour trim, keeps you shaded from the sun while you're enjoying the sights outside. It has a strong aluminium frame that creates a robust shaded area for you to relax in. Available in black or silver.

The multiflex board comes as standard on the Tour model, and allows you to divide your storage space and pack your luggage more efficiently. Plus, when you fold down the three seat bench the bed extends to 1,500mm x 1,830mm.
Smart connectivity: the amount of up-to-date information displayed on the optional digital cockpit can be easily adjusted to suit your individual needs using the home screen or multi-function steering wheel.

Enjoy music, navigation and smartphone integration with the Composition Colour infotainment system now included as standard with California 6.1 Beach Camper, and Beach Tour.

With the camper control panel you now have a digital central unit at your disposal that allows you to conveniently control numerous functions such as, the on-board cool box and auxiliary heating. The menu items are intuitively selected via the touchscreen.

The driver assistance systems in the California 6.1 Beach are almost like a group of good friends: they make your life easier and are ready to provide support whenever you most need it.
Driver Steering Recommendation
Newly launched and standard across the T6.1 range, Driver Steering Recommendation gives the driver suggested inputs to help stabilise the vehicle. The system also intervenes using gentle adjustments if it recognises oversteer when cornering.
Crosswind Assist
As part of the Electronic Stabilisation System (ESP), this applies the brakes if the vehicle encounters a strong crosswind. Standard across the California 6.1 range, this feature is activated automatically when travelling above 50 mph.
Park Assist
Park Assist comes as standard with the California 6.1 Ocean. This useful option aids positioning into parking spaces. When reverse gear is engaged, the vehicle automatically assumes control of the steering. All the driver has to do is operate the clutch, accelerator and brake.
Lane Assist
Available as an option, Lane Assist countersteers the vehicle if the driver unintentionally drifts from a lane. The system also emits audible and visual warnings via the multi-function display to alert the driver of danger.
Side Protection
Available as an option, Side Protection alerts you with visual and audible warnings if you're getting too close to other vehicles, pillars, walls or pedestrians.
Adaptive Cruise Control
Standard across the California 6.1 range. The Adaptive Cruise Control ACC automatically adapts your speed to that of the vehicle driving in front and maintains the distance set by the driver - remaining within the set speed.
