The Mondeo delivers advanced Ford technology, elegant design and the sophisticated driving experience that customers have come to expect from Ford’s flagship.
Offered in five-door, wagon and four-door versions in Europe with the option of all-wheel-drive, the Mondeo debuts integral link rear suspension as well as Ford’s innovative inflatable rear seatbelts, massage function-equipped multi-contour seats with Active Motion and Ford’s first adaptive LED headlights in Europe to help raise the quality bar.
Ford will equip the Mondeo with a large range of powertrains, including Ford’s triple International Engine of the Year award-winning 1.0-litre EcoBoost petrol engine as well as a petrol hybrid electric vehicle – Ford’s first hybrid vehicle to be produced in Europe.
Ford’s industry-first Inflatable Rear Seatbelt technology will make its European debut on the all-new Mondeo. In the event of an accident, the belt rapidly expands to disperse crash forces across a body area five times greater than that achieved by a conventional seatbelt.
The Mondeo will enhance comfort and convenience for drivers with features including first-class power-adjustable, memory-equipped steering column, Ford Multi-Contour Seats with unique Active Motion massage function, and Ford’s SYNC 2 connectivity system.
The Ford Mondeo delivers the widest and most technologically advanced powertrain range in the model’s 21-year history, offering customers an unprecedented choice of refined, low CO 2 and high performance engine options.
The Mondeo offers Ford’s new 1.5-litre EcoBoost petrol engine; a 1.6-litre TDCi diesel with class-leading CO2 emissions and also will offer an optional high-powered 2.0-litre TDCi diesel engine featuring twin sequential-turbocharging and delivering 210 PS and 450 Nm of torque. Ford Intelligent All-Wheel Drive also will be available on Mondeo for the first time.
Ford’s new Pre-Collision Assist with Pedestrian Detection can detect people in or near the road ahead, or who may cross the vehicle’s path, if the system detects a potential collision it automatically applies the brakes if the driver does not respond to warnings.
The system processes information collected from a windshield-mounted camera, and radar located in the bumper, and checks it against a database of “pedestrian shapes” to help distinguish people from typical roadside scenery and objects. The all-new Mondeo also will apply automatic braking to mitigate or avoid a collision with a vehicle ahead. Active City Stop operates at speeds of up to 40km/h (25 mph).
The best of both worlds
The New Mondeo Hybrid Estate has two sources of power: a conventional fuel engine and a battery-driven, electric motor. The system automatically switches between the powertrains, or uses a combination of both, to deliver a perfect blend of power and efficiency. And to make the whole system even more efficient, regenerative braking captures up to 90% of the energy normally lost through friction brakes, then recycles it to recharge the high-voltage battery.
A more sophisticated way to drive
The New Ford Mondeo is packed with advanced technologies designed to make your life easier. Some systems, such as Adaptive Cruise Control with Stop and Go and Lane Keeping System, continuously monitor and respond to changes in road conditions, traffic and your driving. Other useful features, including Hill Start Assist and Active Park Assist help deliver a stress-free, more refined driving experience.
