Mimicking the critical technology one might find in an aeroplane and race car, the all-new Ford GT is showing off an innovative new digital instrument display in the car’s dashboard, designed to allow track-loving drivers to make vital decisions behind the wheel, with optimum efficiency.
The 10-inch digital instrument display is customisable to the driver’s exact needs, while also being effortlessly stylish and simple to use. Determined to ensure that the display was as practical as possible, Ford invited Le Mans winner Scott Maxwell of Multimatic® to test the new cockpit in a Ford GT simulation lab; Maxwell was able to offer pivotal advice in regard to the development of the system, including the suggestion to expand the view of the tachometer and adjust the priority of performance statistics.
When using the digital instrument display, five drive modes can be accessed through steering wheel-mounted controls, minimising distraction while also ensuring that the driver has all of the data they need to perform at their best.
Although the digital instrument display will be pioneered in the all-new Ford GT, it’s just the tip of the iceberg; the technology is expected to be rolled out to other Ford vehicles in due course.
