The Hyundai ix20 is a smartly fashioned and practical mini-MPV that possesses a spacious cabin and delivers fuel-efficient driving.
The ix20 provides room for five people to travel in comfort – and still finds space for a generously proportioned boot. Rear-seat passengers benefit from sliding positions, which create extra legroom if required. There’s a distinctly light and airy feel to the cabin, thanks to expansive windows all around, which also help with visibility. All models come well-equipped too with, for instance, air-conditioning and power-operated windows, each helping to keep the interior temperature just right.
A 440-litre boot space should be enough to contain the results of an average weekly shopping trip. However, if more stowage capacity is needed, simply fold the ix20’s rear seats and you’ll have 1,486 litres of luggage volume at your disposal.
The majority of entry-level ix20 models are fitted with a 1.4-litre 90bhp Blue Drive engine, which manages up to 50.4mpg and a 130g/km CO2 emission figure. Variants installed with a 1.6-litre 115bhp diesel unit offer the greatest fuel-efficiency; as much as 64.2mpg, while producing emissions as low as 115g/km.
The ix20 comes with a full five-star crash-test rating – as awarded by Euro NCAP – and plenty of driving aids and passive safety technology. For instance, ISOFIX mounts are included in the rear to help properly secure younger travellers. As well as driver aids such as Electronic Stability Control and Anti-lock Braking System, Hill-start Assist (HSA) is featured too. HSA prevents the vehicle from rolling unprompted whenever the engine is started on an incline.
