CHARGING YOUR JAGUAR AT HOME

All-Electric, Plug-in Hybrid and Mild Hybrids available at Marshall Jaguar Cambridge, Cheltenham & Gloucester, Ipswich, Lincoln, Newbury, Oxford & Peterborough.

When it comes to charging your Jaguar, there’s no place like home. Simply plug in your vehicle on an evening – just as you would your mobile phone – and by morning you can be fully charged and ready to go.

Home chargers – the perfect way to recharge

For the fastest charging time at home, we recommend a professionally-installed home charger – also known as a wall box or home charging point.

Installation will typically require private off-street parking – such as a driveway or garage – to connect to your home’s electricity. Please check the suitability of your property with your chosen home charger provider.

Wake up ready to go

A home charger will charge an all-electric car overnight and deliver up to 22 miles* of range from 60 minutes using a 7kW supply.

Save money every month

Charging at home is not only convenient, the cost of electricity is less per mile compared to petrol and diesel. And you can reduce this further with an off-peak electricity tariff.

Quality assured

Our recommended home chargers come pre-approved by the government’s Office for Low Emission Vehicles (OLEV) and can be used in all weather conditions.

How to charge

Jaguar all-electric and Plug-in Hybrid (PHEV) cars use a Combined Charging System (CCS) compatible with both AC and DC charging.

AC charging

The top part of the vehicle’s CCS inlet is used for AC charging. This is known as a Type 2 connector and compatible with your home charger, public AC charging points and domestic 3-pin plug sockets.

Rapid DC charging

The lower half of the vehicle’s CCS inlet features two pins that combine with three pins above to provide rapid DC charging into the battery. The two lower pins can be accessed by removing the inlet’s lower socket cover.

Domestic plug charging cable (Mode 2)

Your Jaguar’s optional Mode 2 cable connects your vehicle to domestic sockets by using a Type 2 connector on one end and a 3-pin plug on the other.

Public and wall box charging cable (Mode 3)

Featuring a Type 2 connector at both ends of the cable, Mode 3 charging cables enable you to connect your vehicle with professionally-installed home chargers (Wall Box) and public AC charging points.

Tethered charge point

  • One permanently-attached cable connects the charge point to your vehicle
  • Rapid DC charging points are always tethered
  • Home chargers can be installed with a tethered cable

Untethered charge point

  • Public AC charging points and untethered Wall Boxes feature an AC socket to connect your vehicle’s Mode 3 cable
  • For flexibility, home chargers can be installed with a cable tethered or untethered

Our recommended home charging partners

In order to provide you with the most comprehensive charging capabilities and minimum installation lead-time for your area, we have chosen to partner with two OLEV-approved wall box providers. Both Pod Point and BP Pulse’s fast and smart-enabled wall boxes come with a 3-year warranty as standard, and are recommended for their quality and reliability.

Pod Point⁴

Since 2009, Pod Point has grown into one of the UK’s largest and most reliable charging solutions.

A Pod Point 7kW untethered unit can be installed from £509. A Pod Point 7kW tethered unit can be installed from £539⁵.

BP Pulse⁴

Established in 2008, BP Pulse is one of the only full-service charging solution providers in the UK – producing and installing tens of thousands of their own smart-enabled and reliable Homecharge units across the country.

A BP Pulse 7kW unit can be installed tethered or untethered from £579⁵.

Arranging your home charger installation

1. Choose your provider

To start your wall box installation process, choose from our two recommended home charging partners – Pod Point or BP Pulse.⁴

2. Suitability survey

Your chosen charging provider will undertake a survey over the phone or online to determine the suitability of your property for a wall box. General requirements include off-street parking, a suitable electrical power supply to your meter and a 100-amp main fuse.

3. Arrange installation date

Agree an installation date with your chosen provider. If you qualify for a government grant to help with the installation cost, your provider will do this on your behalf.

4. Installation and demo

Once your installation date comes around, your chosen provider will install your wall box and talk you through the basics of charging.

Save up to £350 with the Government Grant⁶

Jaguar all-electric and Plug-in Hybrid cars qualify for the government’s Electric Vehicle Homecharge Scheme. This provides up to £350 towards the installation of a wall box by an approved installer. If you are a Scottish resident you may also be eligible for up to £300 in additional support from the Energy Savings Trust.

Three-pin sockets provide added peace of mind

If you’re away from home for longer periods and a home charger is not accessible, the standard 3-pin plug socket used for electric household items will also charge your vehicle at a much slower rate. This is achieved by simply plugging in your Jaguar's optional Domestic Plug (Mode 2) charging cable.
