Leading the way for a safer and cleaner future, Jaguar Land Rover are collaborating with various pioneering manufacturers to trial all-new connected innovations for the automotive market.
Allowing cars to ‘talk’ to each other while they travel, Connected and Autonomous Vehicle technologies hope to remove much of the tedium from day-to-day driving, as well as reducing challenges and risk. With a fleet of over 100 research vehicles, Jaguar Land Rover are investing significantly into a four-year plan to develop the technology further; three new research areas have already been unveiled, demonstrating vast and tangible possibilities for the near future of motoring.
Advanced Highway Assist will allow vehicles to overtake others automatically, as well as staying in lane without driver interaction. In addition, Electronic Emergency Brake Light Assist will warn the driver of a vehicle applying the brakes suddenly in front – a particularly useful tool in low-light or poor weather conditions. Perhaps most excitingly, Green Light Optimal Speed Advisory is also being tested; vehicles will be able to analyse highway factors in order to reach traffic lights when they are on green. Not only will this significantly reduce the environmental consequence of sitting in traffic, but also the human frustration of doing so.
