California to end new combustion truck sales by 2036

The State of California is the first place in the world to set a ban on combustion truck sales. In fact, as decided by CARB (California Air Resources Board), no more diesel trucks will be sold after 2036. However, a huge push to decarbonization will start immediately.

The new regulation puts California on the right track to achieving its objective of converting all truck traffic to zero-emissions technology state-wide by 2045. It is a necessity to be a first in the world to stop selling combustion-powered trucks in 2036. The end to combustion truck sales in 2036 is a first-in-the-world requirement.

A flexible but firm transition to zero emission vehicles

According to the legislation, the state and local governments, as well as fleet owners who operate vehicles for private services like last-mile deliveries and federal fleets like the Postal Service, will start their transition towards zero-emission vehicles in 2024. The rule permits the use of current vehicles for the remainder of their useful lives.
