LCV market takes off in April

The beginning of this year has seen over 100,000 new van registrations, closing the gap on pre-pandemic. With April alone seeing new van registrations rise by nearly 5%!

Increased confidence is supported by the reduction of supply chain limitations, which have long held the industry back. As a result, the market outlook has been revised upward for the first time in more than two years.

Especially noteworthy was the over 300% increase in interest of 4x4’s, pushing it ahead of vans up to and including 2.0 tonnes, which became the smallest segment as registrations dropped by just under 50%.

Deliveries of pickups declined. As well as vans weighing between 2.5 to 3.5 tonnes, however at over 65% market share, they still show a general trend towards larger vehicles.

Battery electric vehicle (BEV) interest soared in April with them capturing close to 7% of the market.
