Mercedes-Benz has redesigned its venerable G-Class SUV, making the iconic utility vehicle more rugged, reliable and desirable than ever.
Since the earliest days of the G-Wagen, the Mercedes-Benz G-Class has been an icon of rugged, capable design. That hasn't changed with the latest iteration of the G-Class, and it's still the very epitome of a solid, reliable vehicle that can be depended upon in any situation. The G-Class is simply chiselled, with long flat surfaces and stub-nosed grille spelling out in no uncertain terms that this is a car to get things done, whilst metallic flourishes and LED lighting make it unmistakeably modern.
Whilst the interior of the new Mercedes-Benz G-Class SUV has mostly been designed as a solid and versatile space to be, the German manufacturer has included more comforts in the cab than ever before. For a start there is ambient lighting in the shape of subtle lighting elements dispersed around the cabin. There are five levels of brightness and even a choice of colour tones to match your mood. There's also an optional Seat Comfort package which includes contoured seats for the driver and front passenger using fans integrated with the upholstery to cool or warm the chair whilst offering the best support possible.
The new Mercedes-Benz G-Class comes with a choice of engines which includes a 3.0-litre diesel capable of 34mpg and an AMG V8 that will hit 24.8mpg, but its handling is the main draw. The G-Class features 4ETS, an advanced traction control programme which can tell when a tyre loses traction and acts by applying the brakes to that wheel. The G-Class will then channel torque to the other wheels to ensure that the SUV has the best grip possible.
Unsurprisingly the new Mercedes-Benz G-Class has been awarded a five-star crash rating from Euro NCAP, thanks to a large array of safety features. These include anti-lock brakes, anti-whiplash head restraints and an airbag system that includes over-head bags that provide extra protection should you roll over. As with other Mercedes-Benz models, the G-Class also features hi-tech systems such as lane departure and blind-spot warnings.
