With green motoring undeniably traveling to the fore, Mercedes-Benz have unveiled their innovative battery-electric concept vehicle; an SUV coupe to set the pace for future ventures into e-mobility.
The “Generation EQ” is a sophisticated build with two electric motors and an enviable output of up to 300 kw, which is scalable depending on requirement. Permanent all-wheel drive allows for unprecedented road handling and dynamics, with up to 500 kilometres of drive time per full charge; all alongside the Mercedes-Benz hallmarks of safety, comfort and infotainment.
100% emission-free, the build of the Generation EQ uses the most sophisticated materials to produce a high standard of rigidity, lightness and efficiency; a carefully-considered mix of steel, aluminium and carbon fibre are used to ensure that all bodywork can prove complementary to the EQ’s significant torque.
Inside the vehicle, functionality leads the way; a 24-inch TFT high-definition wide-screen display presents a wealth of information, such as driving data and navigation. Reducing distraction while still enabling the driver to enjoy all that the EQ has to offer, the steering wheel is enhanced with touch controls, integrated into OLED displays which allow menus to be navigated with swipes and clicks - without removing hands from the wheel.
The Generation EQ is seamlessly interactive, with a personality all of its own. When a driver approaches, their selected colour mood glows from within the interior, also gleaming through perforated interior door panels. Once the driver takes their seat, the mood lighting progresses to electric blue, with the lights in doors and seats dimming to provide a subtle ambience.
Fully prepared for future technological advancement, the Mercedes-Benz Generation EQ will soon be equipped with a Combined Charging System (CCS) which is currently under development; this upgrade would provide enough power for 100 kilometres and recharged within just 5 minutes.
