To celebrate 50 years of sport and innovation excellence, Mercedes-AMG are releasing a score of updates to the AMG GT clan, including a special Edition 50 GT C Coupe.
A new front end will instantly lift the image of the Mercedes-AMG GT and AMG GT S, with an engulfing AMG Panamericana grille giving the models an animalistic quality; 15 chrome-plated, vertical bars offer a gregarious yet commanding presence, mirroring the aesthetics of the Mercedes-AMG GT3 customer sport racing car. Alongside, an AIRPANEL active air management system allows vertical louvres in the bottom of the front apron to be opened and closed by an electric motor. Taking a mere second to action, the engine is instantly cooled as required.
New output variants continue to place the Mercedes-AMG GT ahead of the curve. A fresh AMG 4.0-litre V8 biturbo engine provides the entry-level model with a gutsy power increase of 14 hp to 476 hp, while the GT S enjoys a climb of 12 hp to 522 hp. In addition, the peak AMG GT R boasts an impressive 585 hp and a forceful 700 Nm of torque.
AMG sports suspension provides the GT family with truly athletic DNA, absorbing every rebound; meanwhile, rear-axle steering provides enviable agility to the AMG GT R. In fact, those who like to truly exhibit their motor track prowess will have even more options to put their achievements on a pedestal, thanks to AMG Track Pace; an option across the entire AMG GT range. A smartphone app will analyse performance, offer improvements to driving style and allow one to share statistics with other AMG enthusiasts in Facebook, YouTube and AMG Private Lounge.
