Making their debut shortly after the release of the AMG GT R, performance specialists Mercedes-AMG are proud to unveil two new sports cars, increasing their range to a total of 5 stunning models.
The Mercedes-AMG GT and GT C Roadster will feature a weight-optimised fabric soft top, which opens and closes in a mere 11 seconds. With safety always a priority, the Roadster will also include additional rollover protection, provided by an integrated aluminium cross-member with rollover bars.
The AMG GT Roadster also boasts an impressive new output level, produced from a 4.0-litre V8 biturbo engine; generating 350 kw (476 hp) and 630 Nm of torque, this model can accelerate to 100 km/h in a spine-tingling 4 seconds, with a top speed of 302 km/h. In order to support this intense speed, the vehicle’s dual-clutch transmission has also been adapted. The AMG SPEEDSHIFT DCT 7-speed transmission is specifically adjusted for precise agility and response.
The activity beneath the hood of the Mercedes-AMG GT Roadster is perfectly complimented by the AMG performance exhaust system, with adjustable flaps to perfect the sound in an authentic manner; the flaps can open or close as per the AMG DRIVE SELECT MODE, or via a separate button in the AMG DRIVE UNIT.
Active air management is also available on the new Roadster; technology borrowed from the AMG GT R. Cooling performance is adaptable depending on requirement, with vertical louvres behind the front fascia opened and closed by an electric motor. Similarly, active rear axle steering is also derived from the AMG GT R, offering swift control and grounded physical handling.
The aesthetics of the AMG GT Roadster are all that you would desire from a high-performance, statement sports car. An AMG Panamericana grille is framed by a commanding bonnet, both long and pumped with brawn. The wide rear end ensures that the vehicle is imposing, even from behind; continuing to make an impression, the entire interior of the vehicle is used as a bass box, with a subwoofer connected to the body shell via a special aperture in the right rear arch, producing phenomenal sound and topping off the overall sensory experience that the Mercedes-ANG GT Roadster provides.
