Reliable, spacious and practical

Press Information | 11/11/2025

The ground-breaking Nissan LEAF has been named one of the top five EVs available to buy in the used car market in the UK today, thanks to its reliability, practicality and low running costs.

In a list compiled by the Independent, the pioneering model was named the Best Budget Option for 2025, with the title’s EV editor, Steve Fowler, reporting that used examples are available from just £2,495.

LEAF was praised for its decent space, low pricing and reliability in particular, with the Independent noting: ‘‘LEAF is a pioneering vehicle in the electric car market, and remains one of the best-selling electric cars in the UK.

‘‘It’s evolved significantly since its debut in 2010, with the second-generation model offering substantial improvements in range, performance and technology. With a claimed range of up to 239 miles in the 62kWh e+ version, the LEAF is capable of handling longer journeys with ease, making it a versatile option for many drivers.’’

Practical choice

Drawing attention to the British-built LEAF’s excellent reputation for reliability, the Independent said that all-important characteristic was ‘‘a hallmark of the Nissan LEAF, with many early models still performing well on the road today – it always ranks highly in reliability surveys.

‘‘The electric powertrain is relatively simple, which reduces the potential for mechanical issues. The LEAF’s cabin is spacious, with plenty of room for passengers and a decent-sized boot, making it a practical choice for families.’’

The Independent added: ‘‘Comfort is another area where the LEAF excels… the seats are comfortable, even on longer journeys. The car is also very quiet, thanks to the lack of engine noise, which enhances the overall driving experience. It’s easy to drive and manoeuvre, particularly in urban environments.

‘‘Running costs for the LEAF are low, with minimal maintenance required. Overall, the Nissan LEAF is a reliable, practical, and cost-effective electric car that has stood the test of time, making it a great option in the used market.’’

Since making its debut 15 years ago, the Nissan LEAF has sold around 700,000 units worldwide, earning its place in history as the world’s first mass-market electric vehicle.

In June this year, Nissan unveiled the third generation of the car, which boasts a sleek design, significantly extended range, and intuitive technology that is seamlessly integrated for today’s connected driver.

Production and pre-orders will start before the end of the year, with the first deliveries set for Spring 2026.
