Commercial vehicles and city centre congestion are often a mainstay of business life. A hurried schedule is a positive omen for most trades, but the effect on the environment is far less so. The Volkswagen e-Crafter is a concept which hopes to find a long-term solution to the problem of road traffic pollution, without compromising on commercial needs.
The world premiere of the first all-electric Crafter was unveiled at the IAA Commercial Vehicles Show in Hanover this week, with the promise that the vehicle would be on the road in 2017.
The concept vehicle is almost production-ready, taking pride in its exceptional cargo capacity; the e-Crafter will offer 11.3 cubic metres of haul space, with a height of 1,961 millimetres, and a maximum load weight of up to 1.7 tonnes.
The e-Crafter aims to go above and beyond everyday needs, with a driving range of over 200 kilometres before a re-charge is required; quick and convenient, the battery can be re-charged to 80% in just 45 minutes. With knowledge of current technological advancements, it’s predicted that the e-Crafter will soon be able to clock up 400 kilometres in one charge.
Instantly identifiable, the new Volkswagen e-Crafter will light up the streets with its Reef Blue Metallic exterior, alongside striking C-shaped daytime running lights and a ‘power meter’ sat comfortably in the cockpit. Not wishing to skimp on fine details, the leather steering while is also highlighted with contrast blue stitching, while the titanium black seats sport a bold blue trim.
Equipped for the business of today but with foresight of tomorrow, the Volkswagen e-Crafter specification will soon be released in full. To keep up to speed with all of the latest developments, please visit our website on a regular basis.
