Our Great Place to Work® ethos focuses on creating an environment where colleagues enjoy coming to work and helping us to meet our business objectives, however we also believe it is important to give back to our communities in which we serve.
GROUP GIVING
For many years we have been actively involved in supporting and raising awareness for Ben (Motor and Allied Trades Benevolent Fund). Ben is the UK’s dedicated charity for those who work, or have worked, in the automotive and related industries, as well as their dependents. In this time, we have raised over £1M which includes the generous donations our colleagues make via payroll giving.
Whilst supporting Ben remains close to our hearts, giving colleagues the opportunity to get involved with other good causes is equally important to us. We have supported the Macmillan Coffee Mornings for 23 years enabling our businesses to get involved at a local level, again bringing colleagues and customers together. We have raised over £126,000 for Macmillan during this period.
We also support national initiatives such as Red Nose Day, Children in Need, Wear it Pink for Breast Cancer, Christmas Jumper Day for Save the Children and World Mental Health Day.
LOCAL GIVING
Colleagues are encouraged to get involved with local causes which support the communities in which they work. We have so many examples of the incredible efforts made by colleagues which include volunteering for local causes, taking part in sporting events such as marathons, cycling challenges, triathlons and even ironman, sleeping rough for Centrepoint, supporting local schools with careers events and mock interviews plus many more.
‘Services in the Community’ is one of the categories recognised as part of our Marshall Achievement, Values and Teamwork Awards (MAVTAs) which gives us the chance to celebrate those who go the extra mile for their community and supports our Great Place to Work® ethos. Regardless of the cause getting involved in charity or community events remains a tremendous teambuilding opportunity and generates great camaraderie among our colleagues and customers.
