Welcome to the Marshall Cycle to Work Scheme

We are delighted to welcome you to our new Cycle to Work Scheme in partnership with Cycle Solutions.

What is the scheme?

The Cycle to Work Scheme is a Government backed initiative that enables you to obtain a bike and/or cycling accessories to use for riding to work whilst making tax and NI savings from your Gross pay. We have chosen Cycle Solutions as our partner due to them being a very established and experienced provider of the scheme.

Am I eligible for the scheme?

You are eligible for the scheme and all good to order your shiny new bike providing you meet the following criteria:

  • You have passed your probationary period
  • You have no disciplinary action against you; either current warnings, or are the subject of an on-going disciplinary process
  • You are over 18
  • You are employed by MMG, and not a temporary, casual or agency worker
  • You are not currently on extended leave. This is because the payments you will need to make to cover the cost of the bike are likely to exceed the amount you are paid each month - as soon as your pay returns to your normal rate you will be able to participate in the scheme.
  • You are not currently furloughed – as the cycle to work scheme requires you to use the cycle for at least 50% of your commute to work. Don’t worry the scheme will be waiting for you when you return to work!

Why are we doing it?

Firstly, many of you asked for this scheme as part of your Great Place to Work survey feedback. This scheme also fits perfectly with our commitment to colleague wellbeing and trying to reduce our carbon footprint. Plus, it also gives you huge savings on bikes and associated accessories!

The Benefits!

Great Savings – not only are there significant savings on the cost of the bike but what about on travel? An average 7-mile commute by car can cost over £350 per year in fuel alone!

Health & Wellbeing – did you know you could burn up to 4,000 calories per week cycling to work? Raising your heart rate reduces the risk of heart disease, cancer and stroke by up to 50%.

Environment– cycling to work produces zero emissions and could reduce your carbon footprint by 600kg per year which is the equivalent of return flights between London and Brussels!

How long is the scheme in place?

This is an ongoing partnership! However, our initial ordering window will suspend on Friday 14th August for a few weeks just so that Cycle Solutions can administer all the orders and check the processes all run smoothly.

This is a very popular scheme and with more people choosing this option to avoid using public transport due to COVID-19 stocks are depleting faster than ever. It you would like to take advantage of the scheme order now to avoid disappointment!

What do I do next?

The first thing you need to do is check out our FAQs. These will give you a bit more information on how the scheme works and most importantly how much you can spend on your new bike based on how much you earn. Just so you know the maximum you can spend is £2,500.

Where do I order my bike from?

Cycle Solutions have set up an exclusive portal for you where you can not only order your bike but also find out more about the scheme and use their calculator to work out how much you could save!

Can I order my bike from a local bike store?

When you visit the portal you can either click the SHOP NOW button and order online direct from Cycle Solutions or if you scroll down and click LOCAL BIKE SHOP ORDER you can use their interactive map to find your nearest bike shop. If it’s your first bike and you’re not sure of the size, model etc. you may find going to a bike shop more helpful than ordering on line.

Any Questions?

There is live chat on the Cycle Solutions portal so if you have any questions their team are ready to chat to you.

Once you have your new bike we’d love to hear how you are getting on! Have your travel costs reduced? Do you feel fitter and healthier? Any top tips for other colleagues?
