The biggest SUV in Audi's range returns with a new 'S' edition and it's even more fantastically spacious, pacey and spectacularly elegant than before
The new Audi SQ7 is a big car, full-bodied with a wide Audi grille that stares out from under the slim headlights at an angle so as to leave no doubt as to how vast, solid and reliable it is. The SQ7 is actually smaller and tighter than previous iterations however, and the SQ7 receives an even greater cosmetic touch-up with huge 20-inch alloy wheels, a full body-colour paint finish and 'S' body styling, which includes an aluminium effect S single frame grille with SQ7 logo and aluminium-effect exterior door mirror housings.
The inside of the new Audi SQ7 may be cavernous, but it is also hugely impressive. There are seven seats in total, but the driver and front passenger seats come heated, feature the 'S' logo embossed in the backrest and boast electric four-way lumbar support. In terms of materials, the new Audi SQ7 is a delight as it comes with aluminium scuff plates which flash SQ7 logo, steel cluster pedals and a leather-trimmed multifunction steering wheel.
The SQ7 comes equipped with an incredibly strong 4.0-litre V8 TDI diesel engine that will take it from 0-60mph in as little as 4.9 seconds. Considering the car weighs a total of 2,330kg, that’s seriously impressive. The 4.0-litre diesel manages this huge feat thanks to 429bhp and a massive 900Nm of torque, which can be taken advantage of from as low as 1,000rpm. There's also an automatic start/stop system with energy recovery to help reduce emissions, whilst Audi's famed quattro system channels power to all four wheels at any time for maximum performance.
With space enough for seven people on board, it's not much of a surprise that the new Audi SQ7 takes safety very seriously indeed, not just for those inside the car but for other road users too. That's why the new Audi SQ7 comes equipped with hill-hold assist, Audi Parking System Plus with front and rear sensors, speed limited cruise control and Electronic Stabilisation Control which includes ABS, EDL and ASR. There's also a rear-view camera and Audi's impressive pre-sense city system to help prevent accidents.
The Audi virtual cockpit also comes as standard with the SQ7, transforming the driver's instrument panel into a large screen for any information you need to see at a glance.
