Beautifully designed, remarkably efficient, more than capable.
As part of Ford’s commitment to electrifying our range, the Kuga is available in three hybrid options: EcoBlue Hybrid, Full Hybrid and a Plug-in Hybrid.
Ford’s advanced hybrid technology is designed to deliver a cleaner, quieter, more sophisticated approach to hybrid SUV driving.
Equally as sophisticated, the Kuga EcoBlue Diesel (FWD and AWD) and EcoBoost Petrol offer advanced non-hybrid engine options. The choice is yours.
A seamless blend of petrol and electric power
Kuga’s advanced Plug-in Hybrid (PHEV) technology combines a battery-powered electric motor with a 2.5-litre Duratec petrol engine. The hybrid battery can be recharged at home or public charging stations. Energy recaptured while braking also helps charge the battery as you drive. Fully charged, the Kuga PHEV can drive up to 35miles†† on electric power alone, and a total hybrid driving range of up to 465miles.
Extra support for your engine
The Kuga’s EcoBlue Hybrid uses a mild hybrid system that includes an electric motor with a self-charging 48-volt battery. Regenerative braking recaptures energy usually wasted when you apply the brakes. The hybrid SUV uses that energy to assist the 2.0-litre diesel engine, reducing emissions and improving fuel economy.
Available from late 2020, the self-charging Kuga Hybrid combines a highly efficient 2.5-litre Duratec engine with a battery-powered electric motor and optional AWD. As with the EcoBlue Hybrid, the system, recaptures energy usually lost while decelerating. But the larger battery can store more power to further improve fuel economy and even drive short distances on electric power alone.
The smarter diesel option
The Kuga 1.5 and 2.0 litre EcoBlue diesel engines, feature the latest technology to improve power, torque and fuel economy, whilst reducing emissions. At 120 PS for the 1.5 litre and 190 PS for the 2.0, the Kuga diesel engines deliver impressive power output, with AWD available too. And depending on which you choose, you’ll also have the option of a manual or advanced automatic transmission.
The Kuga’s 1.5-litre Ford EcoBoost petrol engine uses a combination of direct fuel injection and turbocharging, along with cylinder deactivation technology, to deliver outstanding power with remarkable efficiency. Available in a choice of 120 PS or 150 PS options, you’ll enjoy all the uncompromised performance you’d expect from a conventional 1.5-litre engine, but with better fuel economy and lower CO2 emissions.
Wherever the destination, the Kuga Plug-in Hybrid uses two sources of power to get you there more efficiently. An advanced electric powertrain lets you make shorter trips of up to 35miles on zero emissions††, and can recharge anywhere you have access to mains power. For longer journeys, the conventional combustion engine ensures you can go as far as you need to, using powersplit technology to help recharge the Hybrid battery as you drive. While energy captured through regenerative braking also helps to extend your electric range even further.
Kuga Plug-in Hybrid is available to order for 2021 delivery.
Intelligent Adaptive Cruise Control keeps you travelling at a speed you choose. If the built-in RADAR sensor detects a vehicle ahead, it slows your vehicle to maintain a safe distance. Then, once the road is clear, the system automatically accelerates back up to the chosen speed. Add that to the Lane Keeping System, which helps prevent unintentional drifts over the lines, and those long journeys become even more enjoyable.
The Kuga is now available with a built-in FordPass Connect‡‡ modem, bringing you a whole range of new features that elevate your journeys to the next level. Get 4G LTE Wi-Fi** for up to ten devices, send destinations straight from your phone to your in-car navigation, and get real-time traffic updates††† along the way. Advanced remote features let you control and monitor your Kuga from wherever you are too; use your phone to locate your vehicle, lock and unlock the doors, and even start the engine remotely to warm up your car on cold days.
Pre-Collision Assist with Pedestrian Detection uses camera technology to scan the road ahead. If a collision risk with a vehicle, pedestrian or cyclist is detected, it’ll then provide you with a warning. If you don’t respond in time, the system can automatically apply up to full braking force to help reduce the severity of, or even eliminate, some frontal collisions.
The Kuga is designed to be ready for anything, with a dynamic new interior design that gives you ultimate freedom, and adapts to every journey. Need more boot-space for a big trip or prefer the luxury of extra leg-room in the back? Flexible rear seating slides forward or backward to suit your needs, so you have no trouble packing anything you need.
