Marshall Truck & Van took the Most Improved Retailer of the Year honours in recognition of its outstanding performance throughout 2017.
A long-standing representative of the legendary three-pointed star, the company adopted its new name following its acquisition by the fast-growing Marshall Motor Holdings (MMH) Group in the summer of 2016.
Marshall Truck & Van operates from headquarters in Fareham and other branches in Andover and Poole, as well as a service centre in Southampton. On joining the MMH Group it also took on responsibility for a fifth facility in Croydon, south London.
Marshall Truck & Van Dealer Principal Michael Gunner stepped up to collect the coveted trophy – one of only five major awards presented on the night – at Mercedes-Benz Vans’ annual celebration of excellence within its franchised UK Network, which was staged at the Celtic Manor Resort in Newport, South Wales.
Mercedes-Benz Vans Managing Director Steve Bridge told his audience at the Van Stars event: “All three of the nominees for this award know how to sell, lend and mend vehicles. All had very solid years across everything that we offer our established and prospective customers, and all can look forward to sustainable and viable long-term futures.”
Steve said that in choosing the winner, he and his colleagues had focused on the quality of its people, its integrity, innovation and creativity, and, most importantly of all, its commitment to customers. Not only had Marshall Truck & Van demonstrated its ability to “get the basics right”, but it had also consistently exceeded the expectations of customers and colleagues at Mercedes-Benz Vans HQ. He declared: “This is a business that strives always to deliver the best experiences, because it recognises that today’s great customer service will create opportunities for tomorrow.”
Michael Gunner was promoted to his current role at Marshall Truck & Van shortly after the acquisition, having previously served as the Dealer’s Group Parts Manager, Group After Sales Operations Manager, and then Group Van Sales & Operations Manager. “This accolade is very welcome recognition for all of the hard work put in last year by every member of our van team,” he commented. “Coming as it does after the first full year under our very supportive new owner, it also underlines the tremendous progress that we’ve made in establishing disciplines and processes which have enabled us to raise our customer service game.”
Marshall Truck & Van sold 922 Mercedes-Benz Sprinter, Vito and Citan models last year, with its Retail and Fleet Van Sales teams led, respectively, by Nick Granger and Kevin Downham both posting excellent results. The company is also a top performer in terms of after sales support, and has won awards for the speed and efficiency of its free, MobiloVan emergency breakdown assistance service and GenuineParts back-up.
“We’ve recruited additional sales professionals, including our first Mercedes-Benz Van Talent Programme trainee,” continued Michael. “With the recent introduction of the all-new X-Class pickup, the imminent arrival of the next-generation Sprinter, and exciting plans to open a new retail van sales facility in Southampton within the next 12 months, I’ve every confidence that we can look forward to a very bright future.”
