‘Are Audis safe?’ is a great question to ask – a car is often your second-biggest purchase after a house, and it’ll see you through years of life, be it children, adventure, commutes, or all of those.
Audi has built itself a strong reputation over the years for not only building safe cars, but building solid, high-quality cars as well.
That top-spec manufacturing includes high-strength materials for passive safety and plenty of tech to cover the active safety parts. These systems don’t just work to minimise the impact of an accident, but they can prevent some accidents altogether.
Euro NCAP is an independent body that crash tests most cars to award them a star rating and scores across four distinct categories. However, testing procedures get updated regularly, and a five-star rating from 10 years ago won’t be equivalent to a brand-new five-star rating.
As it stands, all of the Audi cars tested over the past decade (since 2017) have been given five-star ratings. 
Audi includes a wide range of safety features as standard, even on entry-level models. While specs can vary slightly depending on car and trim, most modern Audis come with:
Pre Sense is one of Audi’s key safety systems, which monitors the road ahead to warn you of a potential collision, tighten seatbelts if a crash is likely, close the windows and sunroof and apply the brakes automatically.
Increasingly commonplace but sometimes an upgrade on smaller or older cars, this system maintains a set speed and distance from the car in front, automatically slowing down and speeding up with traffic.

They’re also bigger and more practical for fitting child seats, with ISOFIX mounting points standard on multiple seats.
Many Audi SUVs score highly in Euro NCAP’s child occupant protection tests, making them a reassuring choice if you regularly travel with young passengers.
That said, hatchbacks and saloons are also extremely safe – so it’s more about choosing the right shape for your lifestyle rather than assuming that bigger always means better.
Yes, Audi Pre Sense can make a real difference. By constantly monitoring traffic, pedestrians and other obstacles it can react faster than a human in critical situations.
