Audi's original SUV returns to the road, and whilst it's slimmer and better-looking than ever, it still has all the space and expert driving capabilities that you would expect.
The Q7 was always designed to be a big, full bodied and red blooded SUV, but Audi's new Q7 manages to retain that feel whilst being significantly smaller. For a start it weighs an incredible 325kg less than previous models, with a slight cosmetic redesign that belies the Q7's still-substantial size thanks to a tightening of the lines. The wide grille, angled to give an impression of maximum size, forms the focal point of a car that is unquestionably solid and reliable from the very first glance.
Unlike the smaller SUV models in the Audi range, the Q7 is built to seat seven fully grown adults. Thanks to an effortlessly spacious and roomy interior the new Audi Q7 is able to accommodate the extra passengers with ease. What's more, the new Q7 treats anybody who steps inside and takes a seat to a level of comfort that is unmatched elsewhere on the market. Plush and pleasingly tactile surfaces abound throughout the Q7, whilst metal trims and a dashboard topped with a wood veneer add to the overall air of quality.
The new Audi Q7 comes with a choice of two diesel engines. Both are 3.0-litre and come equipped with Audi's revered and highly-refined quattro four-wheel drive system. Air brakes and a lower centre of gravity mean that the new Audi Q7 handles corners with the grace of a much smaller vehicle.
As Audi's flagship SUV, the Q7 comes stuffed full of technology and features to make it both a fun and safe place to be at all times. Both trim options come a whole host of gadgets as standard, including Bluetooth connectivity, steering wheel-mounted controls, USB ports, a DVD drive and SD card slots for multimedia viewing.
The Q7 also comes with speed limited cruise control, Audi parking system plus, and pre-sense, meaning that the car can effectively brake, accelerate and steer for itself at speeds of up to 37mph, to guarantee your safety and that of other road users.
