New Audi S6 Avant

With the speedy new Audi S6 Avant, the premium German manufacturer may have unleashed its ultimate large executive car.

Handsome design

A top-of-the-range version of the more humble A6 Avant, the new Audi S6 Avant nevertheless retains all of the charms of its sibling. Unquestionably good-looking, the S6 Avant's flowing lines, wide Audi grille and stylishly slim headlights (edged with the always-beautiful LED running lights) are a joy to behold. As this is the S version however, the S6 features plenty of exclusive design touches such as 'S' body-coloured side sill trims, aluminium or matt black roof rails, privacy glass in the Black Edition trim and 19 or 20-inch alloy wheels, depending on which trim package you opt for.

Opulent interior

Unlike some other 'S' variants, the new Audi S6 Avant comes available in two trim options; the standard edition and the even more opulent Black Edition. Which trim you choose will affect how your S6 Avant is appointed, with only the Black Edition featuring inlays in a Piano Black finish and a flat-bottomed leather steering wheel. Regardless of which option you choose however, 'S' instrument dials, heated 'S' Super Sports front seats and leather upholstery come as standard.

Engine and economy

The new S6 Avant comes with an exceptional 4.0-litre turbo charged V8 petrol engine that blends petrol direct injection and turbo charging for serious results. What's more, the V8 also features 'Cylinder on Demand' technology, which allows the car to cut fuel injection to half of the cylinders when the engine is performing at optimal capabilities. You won't notice any difference when you're behind the wheel, but you do get a better economy of 30.1mpg and 219g/km of CO₂, which is impressive for as big a car as the S6 Avant.

Safety and technology

The new Audi S6 Avant features all of the essential safety equipment that you could hope for in a modern, high-end, executive car. As well as a full complement of six airbags, the S6 Avant features Audi's Parking System Plus, cruise control, hill-hold assist, and seatbelt and tyre pressure loss monitoring programmes.

There's also the usual range of entertainment options at your fingertips, including DAB digital radio, a CD player, Bluetooth connectivity and MMI Radio Plus. If you select the Black Edition trim you can also choose to install a premium BOSE surround sound system.
