It’s time to celebrate; the BMW 5 Series has been awarded the ultimate accolade at the 40th annual What Car? Awards, which took place in London’s Park Lane last night.
Holding its own against impeccable competition from the likes of Mercedes-Benz and Rolls Royce, the 5 Series was hailed the best new car of the past 12 months, showing off class-topping characteristics within its dynamic ride and overall opulence.
This formidable saloon has shaped BMW’s brand impression of the present day, as well as moulding their future. The 5 Series has a truly commanding presence, led by a lengthened bonnet, short overhangs and a long wheelbase; immensely powerful, the vehicle boasts a four-cylinder 2.0-litre turbo charged engine, producing 190bhp and returning 67mpg even at entry level. All the while, the 5 Series is enviably refined, producing under 115g/km of CO2.
