Sleek, sculpted SUV style​

The KONA Electric’s uniquely confident design has been given an even more streamlined, athletic look, while retaining its adventurous SUV flair. The redesign is characterised by smooth, aerodynamic shapes and sculpted lines that flow harmoniously into the body-coloured wheel arch claddings and new, exclusive 17” wheels.

KONA Electric’s lighting signature features distinctive LED headlamps on Premium and Ultimate trims as well as slimmer LED Daytime Running Lights across the range. The clean, flowing front end is like nothing else on the road. The closed grille is the centrepiece in a design characterised by sleek, aerodynamically sculpted lines.​ One of the more eye-catching design updates are the painted wheel arch claddings, giving the KONA Electric a distinctive, athletic look.​ The new tail lamps feature horizontally-stretched graphics, which mirror the unique look of the front end light signature.​ The rear bumper flows harmoniously into the body colour treatment of the wheel arch claddings. And mirroring the front, the accent lines draw the eye into the completely redesigned skid plate.​​​

10.25" touchscreen navigation

The new 10.25" touchscreen navigation system supports Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, meaning you can safely operate useful smartphone features from the big screen.

10.25" full digital cluster

For an even more high-tech look in the cockpit, the brilliant new fully digital 10.25" cluster displays essential driving information where you can see it best: front and centre. The right hand dial displays electric powertrain information like the current state of battery charge as well as the current level of power usage.

Head-up display (HUD)

The head-up display helps you stay safe by projecting important information like speed, navigation commands, and warning right into your line of sight.

Shift-by-wire

Effortlessly switch between drive, neutral, reverse and park using the buttons conveniently located in the centre console.

Power, fun and efficiency​

The carefully matched components of the electric powertrain have been engineered to provide excellent driving characteristics and a practical everyday driving range. The specially designed platform enables a space-saving integration of the battery packs without compromising roominess.​ The KONA Electric’s lithium-ion polymer battery has a lower memory sensitivity and excellent charge efficiency compared to conventional batteries. The 64 kWh battery is paired with an electric motor which delivers of 204 PS (150 kW). Alternatively, the 39.2 kWh battery comes with an electric motor delivering 136 PS (100 kW)

Braking is optimised to get the most out of the recuperative braking system, helping KONA Electric maintain a healthy state of charge (SOC). The driver can easily adjust the level of regenerative braking through the paddle shifters behind the steering wheel. It is also possible to actively brake the car using the paddle shifter. Simply pull the left paddle shifter and hold. You can slow the car to a complete stop in this way without pressing the conventional brake pedal. The Smart regenerative braking system utilizes the on-board radar sensor to automatically control the level of regenerative braking to react to the traffic ahead. Additionally, it also detects if the KONA Electric is driving up or downhill and adjusts accordingly.

Electric cars are close to silent. While this helps reduces road noise, contributing to more pleasant, liveable cities, it can also present a possible hazard to pedestrians, who tend to take the sound of silence as an all-clear to cross the road. That’s why the KONA Electric is equipped with a melodic driving sound, announcing its presence to pedestrians, cyclists and the blind.​

Charging

The KONA Electric offers a range of charging options to suit your grid connection at home and the types of charging stations you have access to throughout the day. When using a 50 kW direct current (DC) charging station, KONA Electric’s lithium-ion polymer battery takes about 48 minutes to charge from 10% to 80% state of charge (SOC) for the 39kWh battery and 64 minutes for the 64 kWh battery. When connected to a home wallbox or public AC charging station, it takes 6 hours 50 minutes to charge the long-range 64 kWh battery pack from 10-100% SOC using the 10.5 kW three phase on-board charger (OBC) or 9 hours 15 minutes usingthe 7.2 kW single phase OBC. For the 39.2 kWh battery pack, charging from 10-100% SOC when connected to a home wall boxor public AC charging station, takes 4 hours 20 minutes using the 10.5 kW three phase on-board charger (OBC) and 6 hours using the 7.2 kW single phase OBC. The KONA Electric’s advanced battery management system gives you complete control over when and how you want to charge it. Pick a time that best fits your schedule and budget, with clear overview of remaining charging time.

​KONA Electric is equipped with an in-cable control box charging cable that you can plug right into a normal wall socket. This charging cable is intended for emergency use only.

​Many drivers of electric vehicles choose to have a wall-mounted charging point installed at home for faster charging vs. a normal ‘trickle charge’ wall socket. These units are fused independently from the household circuit.

Connectivity

The KONA Electric features the latest tech and connectivity features like Bluelink® Connected Car Services, which lets you control your car from your smartphone, or with your voice. A free five-year subscription to Hyundai’s LIVE Services is included with the 10.25” big screen navigation system.

Personalised user profile - Save everything just how you like it – including infotainment preferences, language, Bluetooth and navigation settings.

Expanded voice recognition. - Activate and control features like climate settings, infotainment controls and side mirror heating as well as steering wheel heating via voice command.

Control your car from the palm of your hand. The Bluelink app connects you to your car via your smartphone, so you can do everything from locking the doors if you forget to lock them and checking on your battery's charge, to preheating your vehicle on cold days. Before you get on the road, check the distance you can cover with your Hyundai's current charge. After entering your secure PIN into the Bluelink app, you can lock or unlock your KONA Electric
using your smartphone. And if you accidentally leave the car unlocked, you’ll get a notification inviting you to lock the doors remotely.

Blind Spot Collision-avoidance Assist (BCA) - Using two radar sensors in the lower rear bumper, the system warns you of traffic in the blind spot area. Should you set the turn indicator in such a situation, it will sound an acoustic alert and brake to prevent collision. Standard on Premium and Ultimate trims.
