Potentially save a hefty fine by enrolling in the Civil Penalty Accreditation Scheme.

Drivers who are caught with stowaways this year should expect a significant rise in fines. Carriers will be required to pay up to £10,000 for each migrant found inside their lorry starting on February 13. Right now, it can reach $2,000

If businesses can show they have made every attempt to abide by the rules on securing vehicles and they are members of the Civil Penalty Accreditation Scheme, penalties may be remitted.

The Civil Penalty Accreditation Scheme was established to lower the possibility of collecting fines by making sure that businesses have efficient stowaway-reduction methods. Operators of any size or nationality operating between Continental Europe and the United Kingdom are eligible for the programme.

To qualify, a business must demonstrate that it has a system in place to prevent unauthorised entry and that it takes practical steps, such as driver monitoring and training, to ensure that the system is effective.

Drivers can sign up for the programme by completing the application located here.
