VAUXHALL MOTABILITY

If you’re looking to drive an adapted car through the Motability scheme, get in touch with the team at Marshall Vauxhall. We can offer advice on the cars and the scheme, and guide you through the whole process of getting your car.

Vauxhall’s range of hatchbacks, MPVs and crossovers has something to offer every driver, with many of the models offered through the scheme. To ensure the car you choose is comfortable and easy to drive, we’ll organise getting the car adapted to suit your needs with stowage, access and driving control modifications available.

We’re pleased to offer a series of deals on the Vauxhall Motability cars that are designed to help you drive away in your preferred model. You’ll often find that you can secure the car you would like with nil advance payment.

Designed for simple motoring, the scheme allows you to exchange your mobility allowance for a new car, with most adaptations free of charge. If the car you would like costs more, you can choose to pay the difference.

For a hassle-free experience, there are significant costs all built in to the scheme. These include servicing, tyre and windscreen replacements, annual road tax, insurance for up to two named drivers and accident and breakdown cover.

The car will be yours to drive for three years with a 60,000-mile allowance. At the end of the three years, you can choose a brand-new model.

Arrange an appointment with the Marshall Vauxhall team to get started with a Motability car by calling us or submitting an online enquiry form.

How it works

The Motability Scheme enables disabled people to lease a new car, scooter or powered wheelchair by exchanging their Government funded mobility allowance .

If you receive either:

  • The Higher Rate Mobility Component of Disability Living Allowance (HRMC DLA) or
  • The Enhanced Rate of the Mobility Component of Personal Independence Payment (ERMC PIP) or
  • The War Pensioners’ Mobility Supplement (WPMS) or
  • The Armed Forces Independence Payment (AFIP)

... you may be eligible to join the Motability Scheme.

Allowances used on the Scheme

To be eligible to join the Motability Scheme, you need to receive one of the following disability benefits.

Higher Rate Mobility Component of Disability Living Allowance (HRMC DLA)

This allowance is provided by the Department for Work and Pensions (DWP) and can be used to cover the cost of a Motability lease agreement.

As of 8 April 2015, this allowance will be £57.45 per week.

To lease a car through Motability, you must have at least 12 months’ award length of the HRMC remaining.

War Pensioners’ Mobility Supplement (WPMS)

This allowance is provided by Veterans UK and can be used to cover the cost of a Motability lease agreement. As of 8 April 2015, this allowance will be £64.15 per week.

Enhanced Rate of the Mobility Component of Personal Independence Payment (ERMC PIP)

As part of its welfare reform programme, the Government has started to replace Disability Living Allowance (DLA) with a new benefit called Personal Independence Payment (PIP) for disabled people aged between 16 and 64. The Motability Scheme will work with PIP in the same way as is it does with DLA. As of 6 April 2015, this allowance will be £57.45 per week.

Armed Forces Independence Payment (AFIP)

A new allowance called Armed Forces Independence Payment (AFIP) was introduced as part of the Welfare Reform Act 2012. Those who receive this allowance will be eligible to join the Motability Scheme. For more information, visit Veterans UK website. As of 8 April 2015, this allowance will be £57.45 per week (this refers to the mobility element, which is the same rate as HRMC DLA and ERMC PIP).

The Attendance Allowance cannot be used to lease a car through Motability.
