Vauxhall’s VIVA is a perky redesign of a good old 70s classic – and it’s surprisingly affordable too.
Comfort is key, and the VIVA feels as good on long distances as for shorter town hops. With five seats and 40/60 split rear-seat folding, there’s plenty of flexibility if you want more space. The leather-covered steering on the SL model is a pleasing touch of luxury. Electronic climate control on the SL will maintain the temperature at your chosen setting, and if you wish, you can set different temperatures on each side of the car. Heated front seats and steering wheel are also an option.
R300BT radio with Bluetooth and USB are standard, so you can stream music and make hands-free calls through your own personal devices.
All VIVA models enjoy light, responsive handling, and the City Mode button makes steering even easier. The SE 1.0i (74.0bhp) ecoFLEX engine keeps CO2 emissions down at 99g/km and gives you 65.7mpg. The 1.0i (74.0bhp) Easytronic on the SL model has CO2 emissions at 103g/km, and you’ll get 62.8mpg.
Safety is paramount, so all models have daytime running lights and six airbags as standard. Electronic stability control gives extra security when driving conditions are slippery or treacherous.
Accessorising your VIVA with cruise control means you can set and maintain a constant speed, and VIVA’s speed limiter helps you avoid penalty points by making sure you stay within urban speed limits.
Other optional extras like hill-start assist and rear-parking assist help you drive and park like a pro, while the lane departure warning system will tell you if you stray out of your lane. If you choose automatic fog lights, your VIVA will even see around corners for you, and adjust the light for optimum visibility.
Choosing Vauxhall OnStar gives you in-car access to emergency help and advice round-the-clock, 365 days a year, as well as many other services.
