Absolutely smashing its first year on the market, the Vauxhall Astra has claimed yet another success; this time, netting the title of Best Family Car in the sub £18,000 category, awarded by What Car? at their 2017 ceremony.
This is the second year in succession that the Astra has claimed the prize; no easy feat, given that the Family Car category has been dubbed the most competitive class at the Awards. It only takes a tiny blip on a car’s overview to rule it out of the running, but this hasn’t been a problem for the accomplished Astra. Cited as having impeccable running costs, infotainment and general value for money, Vauxhall’s mainstay blitzed the category with its new 109bhp 1.6-litre diesel engine.
This accolade is the icing on the cake after an extremely successful 2016 for the model. Number one in its segment for October, November and December, Vauxhall hope to build on this success in 2017. It’s certainly off to a brilliant start.
